Opened in 1993, the year-round Farmers Market continues to draw more and more people to downtown Millbrae. An average of 2,000 people patronize the market every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1 PM in the 200 block of Broadway. The market, sponsored by the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, is one of 230 certified markets in the state and features fruits, vegetables, nuts, honey, flowers, plants, eggs, bread, fresh pasta and meat products. The market has contributed to the social and economic welfare of the city by producing a sense of community identity while bringing people to downtown Millbrae to shop. The Farmers Market is managed by Frank Catania.
Over the two-day Labor Day holiday the quiet, tree-lined streets of Millbrae take on the flavor and excitement of an international bazaar and over 100,000 visitors converge on the little town to enjoy the remarkable weather and one of the hottest, most successful street festivals in California.
From its inception twenty-six years ago, the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival has enjoyed an enviable reputation for high quality arts, crafts, wine and entertainment. Today, with the participation of 250 craftspeople, 20 international food vendors, a children's section, a farmers market and continuous live entertainment, the festival is one of Northern California's premier events.
