Millbrae is a full service city serving a population of about 22,000 residents. The City Council is comprised of five members elected at large on a non-partisan basis. The City Administrator is appointed by the City council to run day-to-day operations and oversee a budget of approximately $25 million per year.
While fully developed, the City has taken a proactive approach toward development related matters, especially as they relate to the quality of life. This commitment is reflected in several current and upcoming activities, examples include the following:

THE CITY ORGANIZATION: The Millbrae City government is service oriented and committed to quality. The organization provides the full range of municipal services to its residents including finance, parks, and recreation, community development, public safety, and public works services.
The City believes the best way to provide superior service to the community is by maintaining a commitment to creativity and new ideas, financial prudence, a balance between needs and resources, warmth and responsiveness in communication, employee involvment and maintaining professional and ethical standards.
The 128 full-time employees, the City Administrator and the City Council respond well to the City's stated mission. This team approach has provided a very stable political and financial environment.
